Ken Williams is smooth. The hard-bodied trainer has worked with everyone from the everyday client to notables like Emmy winning WTKR anchor Jessica Larche, Hampton Roads news icon Barbara Ciara, and R&B artists Ginuwine and the late Aaliyah.
Though he didn’t realize his high school dream of playing professional football, Williams lettered in wrestling, receiving a scholarship to grapple at NCAA Division I contender Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
A man with a strong sense of community, he started Bootcamp for Women-Body by Ken as a way to give back some of his fitness talents, while helping kick off the boot camp craze that hit Hampton Roads in 2002.
My fitness philosophy is…
…to always stay fit and enjoy the quality of life. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind, and a healthy mind and body leads to a healthy future.
The movies that inspire me are…
…Rocky, 300, Marley and Me and Creed.
On my workout playlist, you’ll find…
…Salt-N-Pepa, Push It; Drowning Pool, Let the Bodies Hit the Floor; Wiz Khalifa, Black and Yellow; and Beyonce.
The client that inspires me…
…is a lady who is 69 years old—Ms. Legh. Ms. Legh has been with me for eight years and can run like a gazelle! When new ladies, half her age, come out to the class, I put them with her. They’re astonished that they can’t keep up with Ms. Legh.
You should embrace a fit lifestyle…
…to live a long and healthy life. If not for yourself, do it for your kids. What would happen to your kids if something happened to you? You have people that depend on you. You have people who love you. Take care of your health for them and yourself!
