Concrete Interiors — How to get Industrial Style in Your Home

Concrete Interiors

Start easy

If you like concrete, you don’t have to take off the plaster or flooring and replace it with a an entire slab of concrete. There are a range of wallpapers on the market that are almost indistinguishable from the original, and easy to install. You can decorate not only walls, but also cabinet doors and table tops! If you like the concrete after this simple test and want it with everything you’ve got, then you can get on with the real thing.

No need to start big

In addition to the test, you can then bring concrete into your home on a much smaller scale. There are concrete accessories available that will work well in any modern interior.Planters, bowls, candle holders, lamps, ceiling lighting, various statues or even bathroom accessories are all ways you can introduct concrete into the space. Gradually, you can also add a piece of larger furniture. Nightstands, shelves, a coffee table for the living room or a dining table can be interesting choices! Just don’t go too overboard – choose only one large piece, and a few small.

Soften the look

Even with larger concrete surfaces, you don’t have to worry about making your home look uninviting. You just need to know how to “soften” the effect. You can use wood furniture and accents, for example, to bring a slightly warmer atmosphere to the interior. Carpets, curtains and various textile accessories will also come in handy. If you reach for a picture on the wall, cushions for the sofa and add a few pots and candles, you’ll create a pleasantly cosy home. Moreover, the concrete itself doesn’t have to be the familiar grey. Thanks to various finishes, it is possible to change not only the texture but also the colour. By adding brown pigments, the concrete, which at first glance looks cold, takes on a noticeably warmer tone.
