Personality Profile: Peter Castaldo

Peter’s motivation as a trainer comes from his family’s health problems. His father passed away in 2011 at 63 after about a decade of battling diabetes, heart disease, kidney failure and other health issues. Castaldo believes that these could have been controlled had he taken better care of himself by exercising and eating healthy.

This motivated him to help people; to give them what he couldn’t have. If he can help a person live longer, have a better quality of life and have a mom or dad in their children’s or grandchildren’s lives longer, then Castaldo feels that his career as a trainer has been a success.

My fitness philosophy is…

…to be the best you that you can be. Not everyone is going to be Mr. Olympia. Not everyone is going to be a magazine cover model. We all have potential, and success is relative [to the person].

My clients would say that…

…I’m dedicated, pushy, caring and genuine.

When I’m not in the gym, you can find me…

…spending time with my family. I have a wife and two dogs. I work so much that normally I like to relax, chill out, and enjoy life.

The TV show that inspires me is…

…”The Profit.”

On my workout playlist, you’ll find…

…anything from Jay-Z to Linkin Park to Metallica to Notorious B.I.G. I have a broad spectrum.

The client that inspires me is…

…a lady who is the epitome of dedication. She knows exactly what her weaknesses are. She knows what her faults are. Some of that is dieting and sweets and we’ll talk about having cheat meals, but she says, ‘No, it’s a slippery slope and I’ve come too far to allow myself to do that.’ She’s as strict as strict can be. I admire that.

You should embrace a fit lifestyle because…

…if you care about yourself, that’s a good thing, but to care about those around you—your family members, your friends, your loved ones who want to spend more years with you, who want to have you in their lives for a longer amount of time—a fit lifestyle will keep you around longer. If you don’t want to do it for yourself, do it for them.
